Chinese mainland reports 14 new imported COVID-19 cases

BEIJING - The Chinese mainland reported 14 new imported COVID-19 cases Friday, bringing the total number of imported cases to 2,720, the National Health Commission said Saturday.

No new locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported.

Of the new imported cases, six were reported in Guangdong, two each in Shanghai, Sichuan and Shaanxi, and one each in Liaoning and Fujian, the commission said in its daily report.

Among all the imported cases, 2,549 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 171 remained hospitalized, the commission said.

No deaths had been reported from the imported cases.

The commission also said that eight patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland.

There were 171 patients still being treated.

Altogether 80,464 patients had been cured and discharged from hospitals by Friday, the report said.

As of Friday, a total of 85,269 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported on the mainland, among whom 4,634 died of the disease.
