Asia's biggest refiner, China Petroleum and Chemical Corp (Sinopec), is speeding up the development of hydrogen applications in the Chinese capital through further cooperation with Foton Motor Group and Qingcheng Internet of Things Technology Co Ltd.

The three sides aim to further expand the application of hydrogen energy to further boost the development of hydrogen energy and fuel cell vehicles.

According to the agreement, the three parties will form a joint venture to provide hydrogen service for commercial road transport vehicles in the fields of postal services, express and logistics and ballast soil transportation. The joint venture will also speed up hydrogenation facilities to further hydrogen development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Sinopec has been actively pushing forward research and development of hydrogen facilities in recent years, including hydrogen refueling stations, hydrogen-making technology, hydrogen cells and hydrogen storage material.

The company produced more than 3 million tons of hydrogen last year, accounting for the nation's 14 percent.
