Transport projects for 2022 Games near completion
Construction of all 10 transport facilities to support the 2022 Winter Olympics in Chongli district of Zhangjiakou, Hebei province, will be completed by the end of this month, a major milestone in the overall preparations for the Games.
Nine of the 10 facilities are done now, including a railway connecting Chongli with Beijing, an expansion of the Zhangjiakou Ningyuan Airport and several highways linking major sites in the district, such as ski resorts and railway stations.
The remaining facility, which includes two passenger stations, is expected to be done by the end of this month, Hebei Daily reported.
Located about 150 kilometers northwest of Beijing, Chongli district will serve as co-host with the capital for the Games. It will host most of the snow events.
Since the end of last year, the journey between Chongli and Beijing has become easier thanks to a high-speed railway. The journey currently takes about an hour, a significant reduction from more than three hours in the past.
