HANGZHOU - More than 4,000 patients suffering organ failure in East China's Zhejiang province have gained a new lease of life thanks to voluntary organ donations since 2010.
A total of 1,474 people in Zhejiang had voluntarily donated more than 4,000 human organs by the end of August this year, according to the Red Cross Society of China, Zhejiang branch.
"With the awareness of organ donation, more and more people in Zhejiang are signing up for the cause," said Ruan Weixiu, head of the human organ donation center under the Red Cross Society.
By the end of August 2020, more than 76,000 people in the province had registered as organ donation volunteers, 60 percent of whom are under 30, according to Ruan.
