US needs to stop sending wrong signals on Taiwan: Official

Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, urged the United States not to repeatedly send wrong signals to "Taiwan independence" forces on Monday.
The remark came after representatives from the American Institute in Taiwan claimed that security cooperation is an important part of the partnership between the United States and Taiwan while attending a commemorative activity of the 823 Artillery Battle in Jinmen held by the island.
Ma said Taiwan is part of China and foreign forces are never allowed to interfere in Taiwan issues.
The ruling Democratic Progressive Party in Taiwan will only harm the common interests of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits, endanger the vital interests of Taiwan compatriots, and undermine peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits, and will only put Taiwan in a more dangerous situation, he said.
The US side should abide by the One-China Principle and the three China-US joint communiqués, he added
The communiqués, signed in the 1970s and 1980s, clearly state that there is only one China and Taiwan is a part of China.
