Dalian widens coronavirus screenings

Of the 68 cases with symptoms, 34 are workers at Dalian Kaiyang World Seafood Co, and 11 are people who have had close contact with the company's employees.

Zhao said all employees of the company have been quarantined and given multiple coronavirus tests. The close contacts of the employees, as well as those having had close contact with the close contacts, must be quarantined for 14 days for medical observation and be tested three times.

Dalian has been going all out to contain the new cluster of infections since July 22. On Sunday, the city initiated large-scale free testing to cover all residents.

With the active support and cooperation of the public, the sampling work in the city's main urban area has been completed and will continue to be carried out in the city's northern rural areas, Zhao said.

A total of 23,918 medical workers have been mobilized to conduct nucleic acid tests at 4,850 sampling sites across the city. As of Thursday, more than 3.89 million samples were tested.
