Shanghai health authority has prepared contingency plan for the third edition of the China International Import Expo to ensure the safety of the event amid COVID-19 pandemic.

Qin Jing, deputy director of Shanghai Health Commission, said at a news conference on Friday that the commission plans to set up five medical points in different halls of the expo's venue, National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).

Each medical point will be stationed by four medics and three volunteers, and quarantine zones and separate passages for people with high temperature will be added.

Qin said 29 hospitals in the city, including Huashan Hospital, Zhongshan Hospital and Shanghai Public Health Center, have been designated to admit suspected COVID-19 cases from the expo.

The plan also includes regular disinfection of the venue's ventilation system and monitoring of the indoor and nearby environment.
