Chinese education authority accredits 1,679 undergraduate majors

BEIJING -- A total of 1,679 undergraduate majors offered by 375 Chinese universities have been accredited by China's Ministry of Education (MOE), China Youth Daily reported Wednesday.
The accredited majors fall into the disciplines of engineering, education and clinical medicine, according to the Higher Education Evaluation Center of the MOE, which is working on assessing more majors in more disciplines.
The accreditation recognizes universities that align their programs with internationally acknowledged or domestically leading standards and ensure their students acquire knowledge, skills and capabilities that are recognized by industry based on international standards, according to the center.
