Malaysian business leader Chandran Nair encouraged Hong Kong young people to take advantage of the vast opportunities offered in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and not get trapped by the Western ideology that portrays the GBA as a nefarious plot designed to assimilate Hong Kong.
Hong Kong young people have skills, such as English, that can help them do some great business on the Chinese mainland and expand their worldview, said the founder and CEO of Global Institute for Tomorrow.
But they also need Mandarin, he cautioned. "Hold on to your Cantonese. Be proud, but don't dismiss one of the most important languages in the world."
