One of the rescue workers held the crying baby in his arms and consoled the newborn by saying tenderly, "don't cry, don't cry", while others set a stretcher and carried the woman to a safe place. To everyone's surprise, the baby stopped crying immediately.
On the same day, rescue workers also saved a senior resident who was unable to wade in the water due to recent surgery.
To ensure the man's safety, one of the rescue workers covered him with a piece of waterproof cloth to prevent him from getting wet, then carried the man on his own back and put him in a boat.
As of Thursday afternoon, a total of 171 trapped residents were saved and 523 residents were evacuated to safe places.
