After finishing an internship in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, last year, Wang Jiaojiao returned to China's tropical island province of Hainan, where she was studying at a university, to begin her career, attracted by the preferential policies being offered in the future free trade port and the more relaxed lifestyle.

"It took at least an hour to go to work by subway when I was an intern in a real estate company in Shenzhen, and I felt so exhausted after spending another hour to return home after working overtime," Wang, 24, said.

In May last year, when she was about to graduate from Hainan University and busy looking for a job, she learned about the opportunities in the Hainan Resort Software Community, an internet industrial park in Chengmai county.

"Besides a work post responsible for attracting investment, which was suitable for me, I was more attracted by the idea of a 15-minute work and life cycle at that time," Wang said.

She can now walk from her rented apartment to her office in just five minutes.

"And when I am ill or want to watch movies with colleagues, I can go to any of the hospitals and the cinema in the business zone in the community, which is very convenient," she said. "I also have time to exercise before I start work at 9 am."

Wang grew up in Yan'an, on the Loess Plateau in Shaanxi province, but decided to move to Hainan to study in 2015 because she liked the island's scenery.

"Now I can continue enjoying the ecological environment, as our community is like a garden with trees, grasslands, flowers and a lake," she said.

After learning that a series of preferential policies in various fields, including education, tariffs, education and healthcare, will be implemented in the Hainan Free Trade Port, Wang said she is confident about the province's development.

"Next, I'll buy a house and a car as well, and get married in Hainan. I plan to live here for life," she said.

On June 1, China released a master plan for the Hainan Free Trade Port, aiming to build the whole of Hainan Island into a globally influential high-level free trade port by the middle of the century.
