Gao is a well-known Chinese globetrotter who has visited 164 countries and regions so far.
He entered Sudan on March 11. The next day, the African country shut down the international airport and declared that no foreigners were allowed to enter the country.
Gao had no choice but to stay in the capital city, Khartoum, waiting for an opportunity to leave.
