BEIJING -- China on Saturday activated a level-IV emergency response, the lowest in the country's four-tier warning system, for typhoon Nuri, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management.
Nuri, the second typhoon this year, is forecast to land in the coastal areas of Guangdong Province Sunday afternoon.
The ministry warned that parts of Guangdong and neighboring Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region are prone to mountain torrents and landslides as the areas had been hit by recent rainstorms.
The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has sent a working team to the province to assist disaster response.
