Ceremonies marking the 100th anniversary of the Harbin Institute of Technology were topped off on Sunday night in Harbin, Heilongjiang province by a 1,000-drone light show.

In the grand finale, the drones flew over the campus and formed a series of images and Chinese characters in the night sky, including the university logo and "wo ai ha gong da" — which means "I love Harbin Institute of Technology."

Founded in 1920, Harbin Institute of Technology is a key Chinese university with strengths in space science, robotics and engineering.

In addition to university leaders, well known scholars and government officials attended the ceremony.

A 15-hour livestreaming broadcast on various platforms carried the ceremonies to alumni around the world.
