Online course on China's iron, steel industry launched

The University of Science and Technology in Beijing has launched an online course where renowned scholars are invited to deliver online speeches about the evolution of China's iron and steel industry since April 23.
The leading lecturer is Mao Xinping, an academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering who unfolded a blueprint for the domestic iron and steel sector which, according to him, would be more intelligent.
In the future, iron and steel plants could efficiently process raw materials into products of optimized quality. Students from any department or grade could select the course to understand how the heavy industry drives the country's development and how the industry could be upgraded in the digital age.
The university, growing out of the Beijing institute of iron and steel engineering which was founded in 1952, has long been hailed as the cradle of talent in the iron and steel industry. The selective course is set to nurture its students' patriotism, sense of honor and responsibility, and determination to contribute to constructing their homeland.
