2 dead, 2 injured after car knocks down pedestrians in Beijing

BEIJING -- Two pedestrians died and two others were injured after a car knocked them down in Beijing on Wednesday evening, the police said.
At around 7 pm a man was driving the white passenger car when it crashed with the four pedestrians on Zaolin Front Street in Xicheng District, killing two and injuring two others, said the Xicheng district branch of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Public Security.
The suspect, a 40-year-old Beijing resident surnamed Luo, was detained on the spot by police. The injured have been sent to hospital.
Further investigation is underway.
