Heilongjiang reports more cases from Russia
Heilongjiang province's health commission reported 20 new imported COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total since Saturday to 53.
All the new cases were Chinese citizens who entered the Chinese mainland via the highway port of entry in Suifenhe after flying from Moscow to Vladivostok. The port of entry was closed on Tuesday until April 13.
All the new patients were hospitalized, and all passengers on the same flights were placed in quarantine. The commission said no local residents had close contact with the infected returnees.
The 53 imported cases in recent days represent more than half of the 95 new cases reported nationwide.
The province also reported two cases of infected people who were asymptomatic. Those people came from Russia by the same route.
As of Tuesday, the province had a total of 62 imported confirmed cases, two local asymptomatic cases and 62 imported asymptomatic cases. No new cases of local transmission have been reported.
