Prosecutors from Jingzhou, Central China's Hubei province, said on Monday that they have detained a suspect said to be driving drunk driver on an alleged traffic offense after an accident left one medical worker dead and another injured. Both of them were fighting the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak in the city.
The suspect, surnamed Huang, was identified as driving a truck on the city's Fengming Street after drinking alcohol, and then bumped into the medical workers, who were walking on the right side of the street on Friday, prosecutors said.
The two medical workers were from South China's Guangdong province, sent to the city to save infected patients in Jingzhou.
The prosecutors said they have paid high attention to the case since they were informed by the local Public Security Department on Saturday morning, adding the case remains under investigation.
