Nearly 94 percent of the 15,000 enterprises monitored by human resources authorities in Guangdong province have resumed work.

Workers continued to return to their jobs after the Spring Festival holiday as the novel coronavirus threat eased nationwide.

About 94 percent of enterprises in the manufacturing sector monitored had resumed production as of Sunday, according to the provincial human resources and social security department.

The 15,000 enterprises monitored brought 83.8 percent of their employees back to work, with shortages occurring mostly among general workers, including equipment operators, packaging workers and tally clerks.

Some enterprises lack machinery maintenance workers and electricians.

To help people return to work, 46 chartered trains and 1,563 chartered buses bound for Guangdong had been arranged as of Sunday, with more such services planned.
