Over 300,000 members of Hubei women's federation playing key role in containing virus
Hubei Provincial Women's Federation has mobilized more than 300,000 members in the province to join in the novel coronavirus battle, Li Shuyong, president of the federation, said on Sunday.
This year's International Women's Day is special as the control and prevention of the epidemic in Hubei province is still in a key stage, Li said.
"Medical workers and community officers fighting day and night on the front line are two groups involved most with the female population," she said.
Li extended greetings to all women on International Women's Day on behalf of the federation and paid a tribute to the women fighting on the battlefield.
The All-China Women's Federation has responded to the epidemic quickly and deployed resources in all parties to support Hubei province, including offering funds and goods worth 200 million yuan ($28.9 million), according to Li.
The provincial women's federation has played a supportive role in containing the outbreak, such as releasing a special document to protect the pregnant women, and opening hotline 12338 to provide psychological counseling.
Li expressed her sincere gratitude to peers in all-levels of women federations and female workers across the country that cared and supported Hubei.
"I hope the epidemic will be conquered soon, when I can see women taking off masks and revealing their smiling faces as beautiful as cherry blossoms," Li said.
