Tevez fires Boca Juniors to fourth straight win
BUENOS AIRES - Carlos Tevez scored one goal and set up another as Boca Juniors beat Godoy Cruz 3-0 in the Argentinian Superliga on Sunday.
Tevez put the hosts ahead in the 19th minute when he found space after a pass from Guillermo Fernandez and unleashed a dipping 25-yard shot that left goalkeeper Rodrigo Rey with no chance. It was the 36-year-old's fourth goal in his last four Superliga outings.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men with 20 minutes left when Marcelo Herrera was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Tevez.
Former Manchester United and Juventus forward Tevez was never far from the action and he again showed his quality with a perfectly placed cross that presented Eduardo Salvio with an easy tap-in at the far post.
Salvio was on the scoresheet again when he ran around his marker and thumped a left-footed shot into the top right corner three minutes from time.
Boca, who have now won four consecutive matches, are second in the 24-team standings, three points behind leaders River Plate, who won 2-0 at Estudiantes on Sunday.
