Doctor dies from novel coronavirus in Wuhan

A 29-year-old doctor in Wuhan, Hubei province, died from the novel coronavirus on Sunday morning, according to a notice issued by the Union Jiangbei Hospital, her workplace.

Xia Sisi, the doctor from the gastroenterology department, was infected with the virus at work and was hospitalized on Jan 19.

Her condition worsened on Feb 7 and was transferred to the Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, one of the designated hospitals for patients with serious symptoms.

Despite all-out rescue efforts, Xia died at 6:30 am on Sunday, the notice said.

The notice expressed deep condolences and sympathy to her family.
