Egypt confirms first case of novel coronavirus infection

The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population confirmed the country's first case of the novel coronavirus infection on Friday.

This is the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus pneumonia in Africa.

The patient was a "foreigner" who was transferred to hospital and quarantined and did not show any serious symptoms, said the ministry on its official Twitter account.
