2nd new hospital for Wuhan virus patients passes evaluation

Leishenshan Hospital, the second makeshift hospital built in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, to care for novel coronavirus patients, passed evaluation on Thursday by the Wuhan urban construction team and health authorities and will be delivered soon.

The hospital, designed by the Central South Architectural Design Institute and constructed by the China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, is modeled on a field hospital and is made from prefabricated units.

It includes a housing area for medical staff, health care area, and an auxiliary area, covering a total area of 28 hectares.

Construction kicked off on Jan 27 and mobilized tens of thousands of builders to work on the project day and night. It's entered the finalization phase and will be able to provide 1,600 beds and accommodate 2,000 medical staff when open.
