A freight train loaded with 220 tons of vegetables and fruits arrived in Wuhan on Saturday, the first chartered train of groceries from the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
The donation is expected to be delivered to designated hospitals and hotels accommodating infected patients, residents in quarantine and unattended old people, the provincial authority said.
The train, packed with fresh fruits, vegetables and 20,000 eggs, set out from Nanning, Guangxi's capital, on Thursday.
"The whole process of picking, packing and loading only took 16 hours," said Jiang Liansheng, head of Guangxi's commerce department.
According to Jiang, two weekly freight deliveries of vegetables and fruits will be operated regularly in February.
