Two men surnamed Ma and Luo respectively who used their own identity cards to check in hotel rooms for a family from Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei province, have been detained and placed under detention for 10 days as punishment in Changsha, capital of Hunan province, on Jan 27.

Meanwhile the two hotels that allowed guests to use other identity cards to check in were also fined 10,000 yuan and 3,000 yuan respectively, according to statement released by the Kaifu District Branch of Changsha Bureau of Public Security on Thursday.

Local police immediately launched a further investigation when they received reports from local residents that Ma had used his own identity card to check in a hotel room for people from Wuhan.

And Ma, 34, a native of local Changsha county, was quickly detained when an investigation found he used his own identity card to check in a hotel room in Changsha's Kaifu district for a family surnamed Tian on Jan 25, said the statement.

The four-person family, including Tian, his wife and daughter and nanny, lived in the room. Tian and his daughter have fever symptoms.

And further investigations showed that Tian had also asked Luo, 38, also a native of Changsha county, to check in another hotel room in the district on Jan 23.

Tian and his daughter have now been isolated for treatment and further medical observation, the statement added.

The body temperature of Tian's wife and related contacted persons are normal.

Central China's Hunan province confirmed 55 new cases of the novel coronavirus as of midnight Thursday, bringing the province's total number of confirmed cases to 332, according to Hunan health authorities. Two patients were discharged from hospitals and no new deaths were reported on Thursday.
