Beijing eyes high-quality growth of the sub-center
BEIJING — Beijing will step up efforts to promote the quality-driven development of its sub-center in the eastern suburb of Tongzhou, said Mayor Chen Jining.
Construction will gather pace for the second phase of the administrative office area and the integrated transportation hub at the Beijing Sub-center Station, Chen said, while delivering the government work report Sunday at the third Session of the 15th Beijing Municipal People's Congress.
The city saw the first group of its key municipal-level government organs move their offices from the downtown area to the sub-center in Jan 2019, and rolled out a detailed control plan for the region and set up the sub-center management committee.
Priorities will be given to the sub-center in selecting venues for pilot programs, key projects, high-performance companies and technological applications, Chen said.
The mayor also noted that the construction of the initial phase of the Universal Studios theme park will be completed within 2020.
