Sun Wenbin, who has been accused of killing a doctor by stabbing her with a knife, was prosecuted for intentional homicide, Beijing prosecutors said.
Sun stabbed Yang Wen, a female doctor in Beijing's Civil Aviation General Hospital, in the neck on Dec 24. Yang, who sustained serious neck wounds, died the following day.
Sun, 55, is the son of a 95-year-old female patient who has been bedridden since suffering a stroke for years.
Four days after the brutal attack, China passed a new law aimed at preventing violence against medical practitioners.
