BERLIN -- Marius Lindvik of Norway stormed to his first ever individual ski jumping World Cup win, posting a hill record-equaling jump of 143.5 meters at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany on Wednesday.

In the second of four events in this season's Four Hills Tournament, the 21-year-old landed his furthest jump in the first round, leveling the record set by four-time Olympic champion Simon Ammann of Switzerland in 2010.

In the second round, Lindvik defended his lead with a 134-meter jump to top the podium with 289.8 points. Home favorite Karl Geiger finished second with 132 meters, 141.5 meters and 285 points, with Poland's Dawid Kubacki (137 meters, 139.5 meters and 284 points) taking bronze.

"Yesterday I was struggling a bit here on this hill, but today I figured out what I needed to do," said Lindvik, whose previous best result was third place in Klingenthal last December. "It's special to win my first ever World Cup competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. I'm very happy."

Defending champion Ryoyu Kobayashi of Japan, who won the first leg of the Four Hills Tournament on Sunday in Oberstdorf, Germany, finished fourth with two jumps of 132 meters and 141 meters. That gave him 282.1 points, enabling him to keep a six-point lead in the overall table with 587.2 points.

Geiger follows Kobayashi with 580.9 points, while Kubacki ranks third with 578.7 points. Lindvik's win sees him climb to fourth position with 568.3 points.
