Providing customers with the best goods and letting producers know customer needs are problems e-commerce platforms can solve. With the development of the internet and technology, China's social e-commerce platform Pinduoduo has paved its own way.

"We are not only aiming to sell products from countryside to first- and second-tier cities, but to let people spend less and farmers earn more," said Sun Qin, co-founder of Pinduoduo.

According to Sun, 99 percent of coffee beans in China are from the southwest province of Yunnan, but farmers there only get a profit of 1 percent. What Sun and his colleagues want to do is to encourage farmers to plant better beans and provide customers with better quality coffee.

"Pinduoduo has invested 100 million yuan ($14.1 million) to the countryside of Yunnan. New technologies are applied there to help farmers with the process of selecting seeds, planting and quality evaluation. And the feedback of customers could be sent to farmers directly, which will help them to decide what to plant," Sun said.

Another thing Pinduoduo focuses on is improving the efficiency of supply chains so people could eat fresh vegetables. "Cooperating with people who come back to the countryside after college could help with this," Sun explained, adding these young people have the experience of living in big cities and know how to run a business on the e-commerce platform.

"With the distributed AI platform, Pinduoduo could satisfy the needs of different customers and help producers make greater profit."
