'Lion King' continues topping Chinese mainland box office

BEIJING - Disney's live-action remake of its classic animated film "The Lion King" led the Chinese mainland box office for a sixth day on Wednesday, according to China Movie Data Information Network Thursday.
The ambitious blockbuster filled with computer-generated imagery (CGI) spectacles grossed 22.80 million yuan ($3.3 million) at the box office, accounting for about 36 percent of the daily total.
It boasts a total box office of 486 million yuan since its premiere on July 12.
"The White Storm 2: Drug Lords," sequel to the 2013 crime action film "The White Storm," took second place with a daily box office revenue of 16.20 million yuan.
Coming in third is domestic film "Looking Up," which raked in about 9.06 million yuan in presale.
