85-year-old woman inspires with travel around the world
In recent days, Wei Baoling is quite busy organizing a dance rehearsal at a nursing home in Harbin, capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, even as she is still recovering from a vascular stent operation on her left leg. Wei, 85, a retired cadre from a state-owned enterprise in the city, has lived in the nursing home for a decade and is famous among the residents for her wonderful adventures late in life.
She is the head of the dance team and model team at the nursing home. Both teams have more than 30 members.
She also attends several courses held by the nursing home, such as calligraphy, painting and handcrafts.
Over the past few years, she has traveled to more than 10 countries and regions, including France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
"In fact, I had experienced quite hard times before I moved to the nursing home," she said. "My husband and youngest son passed away successively in seven years and I couldn't help immersing myself in deep sorrow."
"However, when I found that my daughter and son became more worried about me, I suddenly realized that I shouldn't add more burden to them," she said. "I must change."
