Bank of China debuts updated mobile banking software

The Bank of China released a new version of its mobile banking software on Wednesday, featuring intelligent and comprehensive finance-related services.
"Open the software, and say the sum of money to be transferred and the recipient's name. Then the software will automatically activate the function of money transfer and set the sum and recipient for you to confirm," Guo Weimin, general manager of the E-finance Department at BOC, said at a news conference on Wednesday.
The example demonstrates one of the numerous intelligent services the new software offers its clients, such as intelligent investment consultancy and automatic interception of suspicious transactions. The software, named BOC mobile 6.0, also can offer personalized interfaces based on users' preferences, according to Guo.
The software provides a comprehensive range of finance-related services, ranging from paying bills and buying insurance to reading financial news and getting coupons, Guo said.
"BOC mobile 6.0 is the latest fruit of our efforts to leverage financial technology to achieve transition and innovation-driven development," said Zheng Guoyu, deputy president of the bank, said at the conference.
By the end of 2018, BOC's mobile banking system clients had reached 145 million people, the bank said.
The new mobile banking software is now available in app stores.
