KUNMING - Border police in Southwest China's Yunnan province have intercepted over 12 kg of drugs and captured six suspects involved in the case, local authorities said Thursday.

Police officers seized the drugs during an inspection near a village on Tuesday and detained four people carrying drugs. They later arrested two people involved in drug trafficking in the city of Jinghong.

Further investigation into the case is underway.

Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crime, as it borders the Golden Triangle known for its rampant drug production and trafficking.
