Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory construction set for May finish
The construction of the general assembly shop at the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory is expected to be completed in May and some production lines will be officially put into production at the end of this year.
Chen Mingbo, a national lawmaker and director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, made the remarks on Wednesday during the ongoing annual two sessions.
Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory is the largest foreign-invested manufacturing project in the city's history, and it took only half a year from contract signing and land acquisition to the beginning of construction, which fully showed the speed of Shanghai, Chen said.
"As the market continues to open up, we can expect more heavyweights of foreign investment in Shanghai in the future," he said.
