Greater focus on private sector gets warm applause

Targeting greater efforts to improve the private economy and create a positive environment for entrepreneurs to develop businesses as a major task of Chinese government this year was applauded by legislators.
"The protection for the private sector, enterprises and entrepreneurs, written into the Government Work Report, impressed me most," Wang Tian, a deputy to the ongoing second session of the 13th National People's Congress, the top legislative body, said after hearing the report on Tuesday morning.
The report states the government will make major improvements to the environment for the private sector, encouraging, supporting and guiding its development.
The government will foster a new type of cordial and clean relationship between government and business, improve mechanisms for communication, inspire entrepreneurial spirit and promote development and upgrading in the private sector, the report said.
Infringements on property rights will be dealt with in accordance with the law and any wrongly adjudicated cases will be corrected, it said, adding the government will also strive to create a positive business environment in which entrepreneurs can be free of concerns in doing business and running companies.
As the chairman of the Better Life Group, a private enterprise in Hunan province, Wang told China Daily: "Offering more sense of security and confidence for entrepreneurs will motivate them to develop businesses and can further promote our country's economic growth."
Li Li, another NPC deputy and a judge from Beijing, said the creation of a favorable business environment has also raised higher requirements for judicial authorities, "as a series of financial measures, such as preventing financial risks and regulating the market order, should be done by rule of law".
She is calling for the country to draft a regulation on supervising private lending as soon as possible, "and I'll submit the suggestion to the NPC this year to improve the business environment", she added.
Lu Xin, a deputy from Guangdong province, said the better environment will be prove to be dynamic for economic growth.
In recent years, China has strengthened judicial protection to guarantee private enterprise development and property rights, while creating a favorable business environment by rule of law has also been highlighted during meetings of the central leadership as well as judicial authorities.
