"The first time I saw Xinhang, I felt like she was my own granddaughter", Tan Fangpei said when talking about her roommate in Fuzhou city, East China's Fujian province.
The 87-year-old used to live alone before Wang Xinhang moved in to live with her.
Wang was a fresh graduate that needed to find a place to settle down in Fuzhou.
Tan and Wang are participants in an experimental program jointly launched by Dianjian community in Fuzhou and a local elderly care service company last October.
According to the program, elders who live alone can offer a spare room to accommodate a fresh graduate who in return should stay to keep the elder company and take care of them in daily life.
