Brazilian striker Dourado set for China move
RIO DE JANEIRO - Henan Jianye have reached a deal with Brazil's Flamengo to sign striker Henrique Dourado, just days before the start of the Chinese Super League season.
The 29-year-old departed Rio de Janeiro for China on Monday to sign a two-year contract after Flamengo agreed to a reported transfer fee of six million US dollars.
"Everything happened so quickly and it took me by surprise," Dourado told reporters. "The proposal came on Saturday night ... and we talked about it on Sunday. It was decided that it would be good for everybody involved."
Dourado scored 15 goals in 46 matches for Flamengo after joining the club from local rivals Fluminense last February.
Henan Jianye, who finished 12th in the 2018 Chinese Super League standings, will make their debut in this season's competition with a home match against Dalian Aerbin on Sunday.
