2 officers killed by wanted fugitive
Two police officers died in southwestern China's Sichuan province after being stabbed by a wanted killer who drove a car into their station on Monday.
Authorities had launched a manhunt for the killer - identified only as Zhang - on Sunday night after he was suspected of stabbing to death a man surnamed Xie during a dispute at a construction site near the Chengyi Highway in Renshou county.
Zhang spent the night on the run, but on Monday morning he drove a car into the front of the Fujia town police station, hitting several people. He then started stabbing officers and civilians, police said.
The onslaught ended when Wang Tao, the station's director, shot and killed Zhang.
Wang and another officer suffered serious stab injuries and later died in the hospital. Four other people received treatment for injuries that were not life-threatening, authorities said.
