CPC has nearly 89.6m members

The Communist Party of China (CPC) had a total of 89.564 million members at the end of 2017, the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee announced Saturday.

In 2017, CPC membership increased by 117,000 to 89.564 million, while the grassroots Party units rose to 4.572 million, up 53,000 compared to the previous year, the department said in a communiqué published ahead of the 97th anniversary of the founding of the CPC on July 1.

Statistics show the Party's vigor and vitality have been strengthened, the communiqué said.
