Vice-premier looks to future in meeting with Macao SAR chief
Vice-Premier Han Zheng met with Fernando Chui Saion, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, on Thursday in Beijing.
Han, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, listened to Chui's comments and suggestions concerning the master plan to develop the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and he asked for a comprehensive and precise implementation of the "one country, two systems" principle and strict adherence to the Constitution and Basic Law of the Macao SAR.
Han said Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao should draw on each other's strengths, seeking win-win cooperation and common development in growing the bay area, so that the vast majority of people in the region can share the benefits.
He expressed hope that Macao will seize this valuable opportunity and leverage its advantages to take part in the endeavor.
Chui said he believed that the Greater Bay Area would bring Macao new development opportunities and that the government of the SAR would listen to everyone's suggestions and play an active role in the implementation of the master plan.
