Xi: Implement summit consensus
Noting that this year marks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up, Xi said the Chinese people have explored a development path suitable for its own situation and China is glad to see that the DPRK has made the important decision to turn its priorities toward economic development.
The DPRK's development of the socialist cause has entered a new stage in history, and China supports the DPRK's development of its economy, improvement in people's livelihood and taking a development path that suits its conditions, Xi said.
Kim said the Singapore summit has achieved results that conform to the interests of all parties and meet the expectations of the international community.
He said his country thanks and speaks highly of China's important role in promoting denuclearization and maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
The DPRK hopes to work with all related parties including China to promote building a lasting and solid peace mechanism on the peninsula, and work together for realizing lasting peace there, Kim said. He also said he was pleased to meet with Xi.
Kim described China as a great and friendly neighbor of DPRK, and Xi as a great leader that the DPRK respects and trusts. He expressed thanks for China's friendship and precious support.
Kim added that he will lead all members of the Workers' Party of Korea and people of the DPRK to implement the consensus reached between him and Xi, elevating the unbreakable DPRK-China relationship to a higher level.
Before the meeting, Xi held a ceremony to welcome Kim at the Great Hall of the People.
