China aims to encourage over 300,000 industrial enterprises to move businesses to the cloud and cultivate over 300,000 industrial apps by the end of 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on Thursday.

The move is part of China's broader push to bolster competitiveness in advanced manufacturing by building a sound industrial internet infrastructure.

According to a three-year plan unveiled on Thursday, China will step up its push to build and develop the industrial internet, which refers to a network of combined, advanced machines with internet-connected sensors and big data analytics. It can boost the productivity, efficiency and reliability of industrial production.
