EU launches platform to increase rapidity of civilian missions

BRUSSELS - The European Union (EU) on Wednesday launched a new platform to increase the efficiency and rapidity of its civilian missions, according to a EU press release.
The new logistical platform, or called the CSDP (Common Security and Defense Policy) warehouse, will ensure the rapid deployment of key equipment and assets for EU crisis management missions to any area of operation within 30 days.
The warehouse, which is located in Sweden, will improve the logistic support to EU crisis management, such as vehicles, IT and communication equipment and medical equipment.
It will also provide technical maintenance and repair facilities and maintain a strategic stock of assets.
The EU's 10 civilian CSDP missions will benefit from these support services.
