Economic forum in Chengdu highlights innovative approaches to drive growth

As part of the event, participants also held two roundtable discussions respectively on "Great Health" and "Talents Leadings to Innovation."

Huang Jia, a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, said "In the advent of great health era, the medical industry as the main subject ushers in new opportunities for development, but the current development of the health industry is in urgent need of cultivating new ideas of the people, enhancing the depth of such industry, as well as increasing the added value of the economy and culture."

Li Jin, CEO of Chengdu-based biotech company HitGen, said the industry leaders should adhere to an entrepreneurial spirit and work hard in the future to meet people's needs for their pursuit for better life.

Li Yanrong, president of Sichuan University, said during the talents and innovation discussion that innovation is the source of power for economic development. "Today technology and knowledge innovation-based enterprises are developing rapidly. Talents have become an important strategic resource for development," he said.

Zeng Tu, CEO of Business Big Data (BBD) in Chengdu, presented main dimensions by which employers considered for talents. He said overcoming the short-handed human resource could give a shot in the arm of Chengdu's development.

A New Economy Declaration was jointly released by the participants after the forum.
