Chen Jining elected mayor of Beijing

BEIJING - Chen Jining was elected mayor of Beijing on Tuesday.
The election was held at the first session of the 15th Beijing Municipal People's Congress.
Chen was appointed acting mayor of Beijing in May 2017.
Chen, 54, served as president of Tsinghua University before being appointed to head the Ministry of Environmental Protection in January 2015.
