RIO DE JANEIRO - Olympic gold medal-winning goalkeeper Weverton has joined nine-time Brazilian Serie A champions Palmeiras, the Sao Paulo club said on Friday.
Weverton signed a five-year contract, said the Sao Paulo club on Friday after terming with his former club Atletico Paranaense.
The 30-year-old was Brazil's first-choice goalkeeper at the Rio 2014 Olympic Games as one of three players in the squad over the age of 23.
"(He) was one of the standouts for Brazil, especially in the final against Germany when he saved the last spot-kick," Palmeiras said in a statement on their official website.
In addition to Weverton, Palmeiras have also signed defender Emerson Santos, full-back Diogo Barbosa and midfielder Lucas Lima in the past two weeks.
