Chinese vice-premier to visit the UK
BEIJING - Vice-Premier Liu Yandong will visit the United Kingdom from Monday to Thursday and co-chair a meeting on people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
The meeting, the fifth of its kind in the China-UK high-level people-to-People dialogue, will be co-chaired by Liu and British Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, according to foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang.
During the visit, Liu will meet with officials of the British government and members of the royal family, and sign a host of cooperative agreements on people-to-people exchanges, Geng said at a daily press briefing.
He expressed hope that the visit will promote political mutual trust, strengthen cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and further boost bilateral ties.
