Intl Student Construction Competition selects prize-winning designs

Dovecote, a house designed by the School of Architecture at Southeast University in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province, won the top prize in the International Student Construction Competition, which ended in Deyang, Southwest China's Sichuan province, on Aug 27, 2017. While rural dwellings are becoming more and more like their urban counterparts, students from 22 Chinese and foreign universities, such as Tsinghua and Politecnico Di Milano in Italy, recently finished designing 22 houses in Longdong village in Deyang, Southwest China's Sichuan province.
With simple materials such as wood, bricks and steel, the houses they designed are in harmony with the hilly village's natural environment.
On Sunday morning, a ceremony was held in Deyang to honor these prize-winning designs.
