BEIJING -- China has made efforts to accommodate students with disabilities when they take the college admission exam, known as the gaokao.
Visually impaired students should be given access to braille or large-font exam papers, according to a regulation issued by the Ministry of Education and China Disabled Persons' Federation Friday.
It also stipulated that students with hearing impairments were allowed to be exempt from foreign language listening tests or could have longer time to complete the exams.
Disabled examinees are required to submit written applications for such supportive treatment in advance.
